At Simien Mountains National Park, we strive to protect our unique ecosystem while enhancing the visitor experience through sustainable tourism, education, and active partnerships with local communities and conservation efforts.

Establishment in 1969

Simien Mountains National Park was established in 1969, recognized for its breathtaking landscapes and unique wildlife, marking a significant milestone in Ethiopia’s conservation history.

UNESCO World Heritage Site

In 1978, the park was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, highlighting its global ecological importance and fostering international support for conservation initiatives.

Community Engagement Programs

In 2015, we launched community engagement programs aimed at empowering local communities through sustainable livelihood projects, fostering a strong connection between conservation and the people.
